I thought the quiz was a great success and the pupil’s knowledge quite breathtaking! Lovely to have such a close heat with the lead continually changing. It made for an exciting afternoon! They were also charming in their presentations at the dinner. I loved the Eva Ibbotson Journey to the River Sea presentation. It’s a lovely International event for the pupils to take part in and I’m sure they’ll go home with remarkable memories of the time spent here. Hope South Africa goes just as well next year. It’ll be different! Thank you for the lovely photographs. I’ll send them on to Simon & Schuster so they can see it’s a worthwhile Event to support.

That was a truly stupendous event! To have followed the wonderful quiz with such a glitzy, perfect evening …I can’t begin to imagine all the work you’ve put in to make it such a success, huge and hearty congratulations to you. You thought of everything – you even gave the authors coffee in the interval. I understand the kids are off on another fabulous tour and glee trip today – after a week of great entertainment. Fantastic. A high point for me was the spokesman-of-the-winning-team enthusiastically telling me what a great graphic novel The Watchman was, over dinner. After the huge long day he’d had. What amazing kids they are. Thanks again so much for inviting me! I’m still on a real high about it all ….

Thank you for inviting me to the quiz yesterday. It was a lovely joyful occasion. My favourite part was seeing those kids in action on the stage - weren't they knowledgeable! -and afterwards, it was wonderful to see them giving their speeches so confidently. I applaud Prof Wayne for this enterprise, which must do such a lot of good, and thanks to you and your team for organising it.

Thank you for inviting me. I had a great day and weren't those kids brainy!

Gillian Cross

Thank you for a wonderful afternoon yesterday. I really enjoyed it and it was, as always, inspirational and encouraging to see all the knowledge and enthusiasm the children showed. You must have worked unbelievably hard to make it all work, but I hope you were able to enjoy it too. It was brilliant.

Just to say again how much I enjoyed the KLQ World Final this year. You and your team did a fantastic job, as ever. I look forwards very much to starting it all over again in the Autumn. Thanks and best wishes.

Alan Brown

Well done in organising such a wonderful event as the KLQWF. We had a great time.

Andrew Norriss

I enjoyed the whole day enormously, and what a brilliant thing it was to let kids whose particular genius is not always acknowledged in schools should have their time in the sun like that. A really lovely occasion to have organised and everything went so smoothly... I was most impressed!

Yvonne Coppard

It was a great event, Jacky; thanks for all the work you and your team put in to it.

I thought I'd drop a quick email just to congratulate you on the smooth and seamless organisation of the quiz last week. Diane and I both know that running events can take a huge amount of time and effort, and an occasion like the quiz and celebration dinner (not to mention all the accommodation and activities for the teams for a week) was a massive undertaking. You must be relieved that it's all over now and, we hope, delighted with the way it all went. Thursday was a triumph with everyone's contribution pulling together superbly.

GEOFF DUBBER- CHAIR SLA

Very many thanks for the excellent KLQ yesterday. I thoroughly enjoyed the Final & the meal. From the viewpoint of a visitor I thought it was excellent. Good to be in Oxford again, good venues, lots of interesting authors, lively atmosphere & again I was so impressed by the book knowledge of the young people. I realise that it was a huge amount of work for you and the team but I reckon it was absolutely worth it.

KEVIN BROWN - TEACHER WITH THE WELSH TEAM

I would like to list what I thought were the real successes of the week. It's by no means a list of all that we enjoyed. They included Chris Smith's storytelling, Nick's friendly presentation of the quiz, the lovely setting of the Playhouse and the Town Hall for the dinner, Paul Mayhew Archer's speech, and the remarkable number of authors you managed to persuade to support the event. Wayne's questions seemed ideally to suit the students' ability, and I found Kevin Heritage to be a very welcoming and entertaining host

TOM RYAN - TEACHER WITH THE CHINESE TEAM

Thanks for all the hard work that you put into such a wonderful time in Oxford. We had a fabulous time. I can only imagine the months of planning and nail biting that went into this year's KLQ...it was a smashing success.

MARJ BROWN - TEACHER/LIBRARIAN WITH THE SOUTH AFRICAN TEAM

I want to reiterate my thanks and appreciation for a world final that was so well organised and a programme that introduced us to a wide range of the sites of Oxford and beyond. Most of all, the opportunities to meet authors were so awesome. I felt like a child, running around trying to make the most of everything !! Thank you for marvellous accommodation, transport and for going out of your way to be understanding.
